Lion's Tail
Lion's Tail
Grown locally in northern NSW. We are proud to support local herb growers. We aim to have Lion's Tail available all year round but keep in mind its harvesting is seasonal and so sometimes stock is limited.
The Khoisan, a nomadic African tribe, cultivated Lion's Tail (also known as Motherwort) and they regard it even today as a panacea for all kinds of illnesses including asthma, coughs, colds, diabetes, diarrhoea, fever, skin diseases, snake bite, menstruation and worms, as well as a liver tonic.
The Khoisan were also known to use the root as a brew for ceremonial occasions and would smoke the leaf, playing drums and dancing well into the night, assisted by the euphoric effects of their wild dagga tea. When smoked, Lion's Tail gives a short-lasting extroverted exuberance and positive feeling. Lion's Tail may help cannabis smokers reduce or quit, and is a valuable alternative to tobacco.

Lion's Tail
Lion’s tail is now a popular smoking alternative to tobacco or cannabis, giving a mild euphoric and uplifting effect. Tea from the leaves and flowers can aid with upper respiratory infection, fever, headache, high blood pressure, hepatitis, muscle cramps and liver stagnation.
Great quality product!
Thanks, we source this locally and it is a labor of love getting just the right amount of flowers to compliment the leaf but I recon we have nailed it. So much crap and imposter herbs on the market, we really do deliver the real deal ! Thanks Laura
I made a weak tea out of it but it had no effect. I'm too scared to make a stronger tea because I don't know the correct dosage. I have read online it should be used with a vaporiser but I don't own one and I don't want to smoke it because I don't smoke. I sent inquiries to Happy Herb company but got no feedback so it's sitting in my cupboard for now.
Hi Broderick, Thank you for sharing your feedback. We are sorry to hear the Lions Tail isn't delivering the desired effect. It is most potent when smoked, we would be happy to point you in the direction of some dried herb vapourisers if you are interested. If you would like to make a tea, we have the following preparation instructions on our website:
Preparation: 1 tablespoon of chipped dried herb (10,0g) added to 3 cupfuls (500 ml) of boiling water, boil for 10 minutes, allow to cool overnight, strain and use clear liquid for both internal and external use.
Please don't hesitate to reach out to tribe@happyherbcompany.com if you have any other questions or concerns -- we are more than happy to help.
It is a bitter tea, but if you haven't slept for 3 days it is the herb for you, it will wake the dead, I use it for a pre workout!
Hi James, Thank you for sharing your feedback about Lion's Tail! We are glad that it is helping with energy, and know that your review will help other customers. Cheers!! With health & happiness, Happy Herb Co
Omg this stuff is BITTER!!!!!!! 😖 I bought this as I'd read in a book that it was good for people who have heart palpitations due to stress, it did work but not as great as I thought. Plus the taste was so bad I don't think I could drink it ever again! Even honey didn't improve the taste! I had better results with valerian and passionflower. Disappointing but different herbs work for different people so you should still try it and see if it works for you. Just be prepared for the taste 🤪
Hi Marianne, Thank you for your honest feedback! We appreciate you sharing your experience, while we are sorry the Lion's Tail didn't work for you as well as you had hoped, you are exactly right that every body is different/will have different experiences with herbs -- and we are so glad to hear you found some other herbs that worked better for you!
And yes, this herb is very bitter when drunk as a tea, we have been conditioned to dislike this flavour but many herbalists agree that the bitter taste alone actually has healing effects, especially for digestion. Perhaps in the future an extract would be better, since you only need a few drops and it won't have the intense flavour, or try it as a smoking herb if you are into that.
Thanks again, your feedback helps other customers connect to the best products so we really appreciate you taking the time to share.
Cheers,
Happy Herb Co
As a tea it tastes like poison, so I'd recommend adding some honey.
Slight mellow effect for me personally so a good choice before bed or meditation.
