Frequently Asked Questions
What environmental efforts do you do?
Our biggest impact for the environment is our move to home compostable packaging. We estimate we save 70,000 plastic bags each year. We believe in going the extra step of care to choose home compostable because biodegradable and normal compostable actually take a lot to break down, and may be reduce to microplastics in the sea.
We have also invested in a huge amount of solar and can proudly say we are energy neutral, in fact we are feeding more back to the grid that that we are using.
Are all herbs sustainable?
Most herbs are grown abundantly and we seek the planet to source them from their native lands or from climates that they love. Some herbs are becoming endangered and so we do our best to stay across this information and provide alternatives when this is an issue.
What do you mean Beyond Organic
Beyond Organic is a term we love to use to describe that there is more to quality than offering organic products. We value sustainability, philanthropy, human connection and care, and working to make the world a better place in our own way, which in a nutshell is reinvigorating herbal wisdom and empowering humans to lead a natural life. What do you mean by 'not just for profits'?
We believe a good healthy business is one that generates profits to remain sustainable, but also shares those profits. Since the birthing of Happy Herb Co in 1996, and at the time of writing, we have proudly donated over $700k to charitable organisations, working directly ourselves with over 50 projects, and are in the process of establishing our own charity, Happy Herb Humanity. This aspect of the business excites us a lot!
How do you see business in the world today?
Happy Herb Co was founded to promote awareness and education about herbs. Due to our success we've been able to expand upon that mission to become a social enterprise. This is a business that understands our position as custodians of our planet and communities, and seeks to give back as much as it gets.
Our founder Ray Thorpe puts it beautifully ..
"A business is a reflection of your own values, and we value the interconnected nature of all life. None of us are separate. Our beliefs, actions and behaviour affect the world, and all those who we share it with. That is why we commit to giving back, to acting responsibly and with integrity in our work and our lives".
