Happy Herb Co is a national retail network, online store, herbal production house, wholesale distributor and much more, proudly leading the way in the Australian herbal revolution for over 25 years.
Established in 1996, we are a trusted source of herbal knowledge, products and connection.
Our History
The seeds for Happy Herb Co were planted in 1996 by our founder and herb activist Ray Thorpe and Eliza Rix. Upon discovering the powerful benefits of herbs, but shocked to find their lack of availability and that the knowledge of their benefits was being supressed, Ray and Eliza opened their first shop as Happy High Herbs in the iconic village of Nimbin. Selling alternatives to recreational and medicinal drugs, Happy High Herbs became a phenomenon and quickly grew to 55 shops nationwide and globally.
Sadly in 2013 there was a national legislation change that would outlaw any products that would alter your state, and even though Happy Herbs was successful in getting this law amended to exclude medicinal herbs, all of the psychoactive herbs were taken away. Devastated by the loss of so many amazing healing plants and fun alternatives, Happy High Herbs went into retraction and many of the iconic shops closed.
Shortly after this, Laura, now our company owner and CEO, joined Ray on a greater mission to save the much-loved company and continue to dedicate their lives to serving its mission. Upon Rays retirement in 2021, Laura purchased the company and is now leading it into its next evolution of connection humans with herbs.
