Preparation: 2 tsp/cup, steep 10 minutes, drink as needed. Externally use cooled tea. May also be smoked.

Marshmallow leaf (Althaea officinalis L., folium)
The leaves of Althaea officinalis (marshmallow) contain abundant mucilage-rich polysaccharides (e.g., arabinogalactans, rhamnogalacturonans), as well as smaller amounts of flavonoids and phenolic acids¹. These mucilage substances form a soothing film when hydrated, which in traditional herbal medicine has been used to help calm and protect irritated mucous membranes in the mouth and throat². Contemporary pharmacological reviews indicate that marshmallow preparations may support the soothing of dry, irritating coughs or throat discomfort¹.

Jedis This has been my first foray into smoking herbs. I've never really been a true tobacco smoker - I was one of those people who could smoke a packet, then not smoke again for 12 months.
