The bark of Trichilia catigua, commonly known as catuaba, contains a complex mixture of flavonolignans (notably cinchonain Ib), alkaloids, sesquiterpenes, phenolic acids, and tannins(1)
In traditional Brazilian herbal practices the bark has been used as a tonic for the nervous system, where it is reputed to help with mild fatigue, stress and well-being(1).
