Epilobium (Epilobium parviflorum Schreb., aerial parts)
Epilobium parviflorum, commonly known as Small-flowered Willow Herb, is a traditional European herb used mainly for urinary and prostate-related support. The aerial parts contain ellagitannins like oenothein A and B, flavonoids, phenolic acids, and phytosterols(1). These constituents have been studied for their antioxidant activity and their ability to influence inflammatory and hormone-related pathways in the lower urinary tract(2).
In traditional herbal medicine across Central and Eastern Europe, Epilobium has long been used to support men’s urinary comfort, particularly in mature age(1). Modern research continues to explore its effects on inflammatory mediators, prostate cell metabolism, and microbial balance.
