PHYTOTHERAPY
PHYTOTHERAPY
Kava (Piper methysticum)
Instant kava is produced by preparing a traditional aqueous kava beverage from peeled noble kava roots and then dehydrating the liquid to create a soluble powder.¹ This modern format preserves the cultural foundation of kava as a social and ceremonial plant while translating it into an accessible, portable preparation.
Vanuatu noble cultivars are characterised by balanced kavalactone chemotypes dominated by kawain, dihydrokawain, methysticin, and related lactones, which have been examined in vitro for interactions with GABAergic signalling, calcium channel modulation, and CYP enzyme systems without implying physiological outcomes.²,³ Instant kava retains sensory qualities associated with noble cultivars, typically described as clean, social, and suitable for prolonged communal drinking, while reducing the need for manual maceration and straining. Root-only aqueous preparation aligns with traditional Pacific practice and excludes aerial material.¹,²
Instant kava differs from powdered root in that kavalactone-rich aqueous fractions are extracted first and dehydrated, yielding a soluble powder that reconstructs the beverage format without the fibrous material typically present in raw root preparations.¹ This innovation maintains cultural and botanical integrity while offering modern convenience and standardisation.
The “Green” instant style reflects a lighter, daytime-leaning sensory profile consistent with noble kava drinking in social and conversational contexts. While not coded as a distinct botanical cultivar, “green” nomenclature signals a bright, clean, and easy-drinking character aligned with communal Pacific traditions.¹,²

Effective GABAnergic without the life ruining consequences :D
My first time trying the instant kava, I found this strain gave me a subtle but nice mellow feeling. Thank you.
So glad to hear you are impressed with our Kava!
My partner Josh and I just shared a cup of the green kava & we’re both rushing and ecstatic. It’s actually quite strong and fast onset!! Josh loves it! My fave for sure!
We're all buzzing around the office on the new kava, thanks for sharing. Laura.
As a long time HH customer, and self claimed Kava Connoisseur, I was recently sent this delicious Kava to review. I have to say it is my favourite Kava to date, I have never tasted anything that resembles the freshly harvested Kava juice I drank in Vanuatu, but Happy Herbs seem to have nailed it, capturing the freshness through their dehydration process.
Love it! It’s got an upbeat vibe and the numbing sensation of Kava is actually more of an uplifting tingling experience.
Thank Kyle, we knew you woudl love this one !
