Moringa (leaf powder)
NOTE THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION IS PROVIDED FOR USERS OUTSIDE OF AUSTRALIA AND THAT MORINGA IS NOT RECOGNISED AS A FOOD IN AUSTRALIA AND THEREFORE NOT PERMITTED TO BE CONSUMED.
Moringa oleifera is a fast-growing tropical tree whose dried and powdered leaves are used gloabally as a green “super‐food”. The leaf powder is rich in nutrients (vitamins A, C, iron, calcium, protein) and also contains a wide range of phytochemicals such as flavonoids, phenolic acids, isothiocyanates (for example niazimicin), and other polyphenols¹. These compounds have been under investigation for their potential effects, however Australia does not recognise it as a nurtitional food source.
Traditional uses in South Asia and Africa have included the leaves for general nourishment, as well as support for vitality and resilience in challenging conditions¹.
