Astragalus Root
Astragalus membranaceus root contains several classes of active plant compounds, including polysaccharides, cycloartane-type saponins and flavonoids¹. These compounds have been studied for their effects on immune-system cells, such as modulating macrophage activity, enhancing natural-killer cell function and influencing antioxidant enzyme activity(1).
In traditional Chinese medicine the root, known as “huang qi”, is used as a tonic for “qi” (氣 - vital energy), especially in cases of fatigue, frequent colds or spontaneous sweating, and to support lung and spleen function(2). Modern scientific research has explored its potential for immune function support, vitality and resilience(1).
