Licorice Root (Glycyrrhiza glabra L., radix)
Licorice root from Glycyrrhiza glabra is rich in active compounds such as the triterpenoid saponin glycyrrhizin (and its metabolite glycyrrhetinic acid), flavonoids like liquiritigenin and glabridin, and various phenolic acids¹. These constituents are studied for supporting mucous membranes, assisting with mild respiratory symptoms, and contributing antioxidant and anti-inflammatory functions².
Traditionally in European, Middle Eastern and Asian herbal medicine, licorice root has been used for soothing the throat, supporting digestion and enhancing flavour in herbal formulas¹
