Dementia is an umbrella term classifying symptoms that affect mental cognitive tasks such as memory and reasoning. Dementia occurs for a variety of conditions, most commonly Alzheimers (Alzheimers is responsible for about 50-70% of all dementia cases). Each cause of dimentia causes damage to a different set of brain cells.
