Hops (Humulus lupulus L., flos)
Hops cones (the dried female flowers of Humulus lupulus) are rich in key compounds such as bitter α- and β-acids (humulones and lupulones), prenylated flavonoids (including xanthohumol), and volatile oils like myrcene and humulene¹. These plant chemicals are studied for their ability to support the body’s relaxation response, promote healthy circulation at mild levels, and contribute antioxidant activity¹.
Traditional European herbal practice uses hops for its calming properties around bedtime and for mild circulatory support². The European Medicines Agency recognises Humulus lupulus L., flos as a traditional herbal medicinal product for helping with mild sleep disorders and mild symptoms of mental stress¹.
